subclusters
Groups within groups
Subclusters are smaller groupings within a larger cluster.
The term appears in astronomy, where galaxies form subclusters within galaxy clusters, and in data analysis, where algorithms divide datasets into hierarchical groupings: The algorithm identified three subclusters within the main population.
Any field that organizes items into clusters may recognize finer divisions as subclusters.
