stringybark
Australian tree type
Stringybark refers to several species of Australian eucalyptus trees with thick, fibrous bark that can be pulled off in long strips.
The bark was traditionally used by Aboriginal peoples for shelter, canoes, and containers.
The term also describes the rough, shaggy texture itself: The stringybark shed its outer layers in the summer heat.
