strikeovers

Deleted then retyped

Strikeovers are typed characters superimposed on other characters, created when a typist backspaces and types over a mistake without erasing it first.

The term belongs to the typewriter era, when corrections left visible traces: The manuscript was full of strikeovers and whiteout.

In word processing, strikethrough formatting—a line through deleted text—serves a similar function of showing revision history.
