stouts

Heavy roasted ales

Stouts is the plural of stout, a dark, heavy beer brewed with roasted malt or barley.

The style originated from porter but became its own category, with Guinness being the most famous example: We ordered three stouts and a lager.

Stouts range from dry Irish versions to sweeter milk stouts and imperial stouts with higher alcohol content.
