stomach flu
Vomiting and diarrhea
Stomach flu is a colloquial term for gastroenteritis—inflammation of the stomach and intestines causing nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps.
Despite the name, it has nothing to do with influenza, which is a respiratory illness.
Most cases come from viral infections and resolve within a few days: Half the office is out with stomach flu.
