spot welds
Localized metal bonds
Spot welds are localized fusion joints made by pressing metal sheets together and applying heat and pressure at specific points, typically using electrical resistance.
The technique joins materials without welding along an entire seam: The car body is held together by thousands of spot welds.
As a verb, to spot weld is to join materials this way.
