sponsees
Those receiving backing
Sponsees are people being sponsored—most often in twelve-step recovery programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, where a more experienced member (the sponsor) guides a newer member (the sponsee) through the process: I meet with my sponsees once a week.
The term also appears in mentorship and scholarship contexts.
