snuff film
Filmed real killing
A snuff film is a movie purportedly showing an actual murder, filmed for entertainment or profit.
The concept emerged in the 1970s as an urban legend and moral panic.
While staged depictions are common in horror cinema, credible evidence for commercially distributed films of real murders remains essentially nonexistent.
The term now applies more broadly to any video depicting actual killing: The cartel's execution videos are basically snuff films.
