snow emergency
Blizzard response declaration
A snow emergency is a declaration by local authorities that significant snowfall requires special traffic and parking rules.
During a snow emergency, vehicles may be banned from designated routes to allow plowing, and cars parked on emergency routes may be towed: Move your car—they declared a snow emergency.
The term is most common in northern U.S. cities with regular heavy snowfall.
