snookered
Left without options
Snookered means trapped in a difficult position with no good options.
The word comes from snooker, a billiards game where you can leave your opponent unable to hit the target ball directly.
Outside the game, it describes being outmaneuvered or stuck: We got snookered into paying twice what it was worth.
In British usage especially, snookered can also mean drunk.
