sleep therapy
Healing through slumber
Sleep therapy encompasses treatments that use sleep—or address sleep disorders—for therapeutic benefit.
In psychiatry, it historically meant prolonged drug-induced sleep to treat mental illness, a practice now largely abandoned.
Modern sleep therapy typically refers to cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) or other interventions targeting sleep problems: Her doctor recommended sleep therapy before trying medication.
