skivers
Those avoiding work
Skivers is the plural of skiver, which has two distinct meanings.
In British slang, a skiver is someone who avoids work or responsibility, shirking duties they should perform: The skivers always disappear when there's heavy lifting to do.
Separately, skivers are tools used in leatherworking to shave thin layers from hides, or the thin leather pieces produced by such shaving.
