skived
Played hooky, British
Skived has two distinct meanings.
In British slang, to skive (often skive off) is to avoid work or duty, to shirk: He skived off school to play video games.
A skiver is someone who habitually dodges responsibilities.
Separately, in leatherworking and manufacturing, to skive is to shave or pare material into thin layers: skived leather for bookbinding.
