A silver mirror is a mirror made by depositing a thin layer of metallic silver onto glass, the traditional method for producing high-quality reflective surfaces.
The term also names the chemical demonstration that creates this effect—the silver mirror test or Tollens' test—where certain compounds reduce silver ions to form a mirror-like coating inside a glass vessel: The aldehyde produced a beautiful silver mirror on the flask walls.
