shoe prints
Tread marks left
Shoe prints are the impressions or marks left by footwear on a surface—in mud, snow, dust, or tracked onto a floor.
The term appears most often in forensic contexts, where investigators examine shoe prints to identify suspects or reconstruct movements: Police found shoe prints leading away from the broken window.
Also called footprints, though that term more often refers to bare feet.
