ship war
Fighting at sea
A ship war is a clash between fans who support different romantic pairings for fictional characters.
From "ship" (short for relationship), these conflicts play out in online communities where devotees of rival pairings argue about which couple is superior or "canon": The ship war between Team Edward and Team Jacob divided the fandom for years.
Ship wars can get surprisingly heated.
