sensuousness

Pleasure through senses

Sensuousness is the quality of appealing to or gratifying the senses.

A piece of music might have sensuousness in its rich textures; a painting might convey it through lush color and form.

The word emphasizes aesthetic pleasure and physical sensation without the erotic implications that often attach to *sensuality*: the sensuousness of silk against skin, the sensuousness of late summer evenings.
