A selion is a strip of land in an open field system, the long narrow division that a single plowman would work.
Medieval farming organized fields into these parallel strips, each typically a furlong in length—the distance oxen could pull a plow before resting.
The ridged terrain of former selions remains visible in some English landscapes.
