secondments

Staff on loan

Secondments are temporary transfers of employees to different positions, departments, or organizations.

A worker on secondment remains employed by their original employer but works elsewhere for a set period: She's on secondment to the Paris office for six months.

The arrangement benefits both parties—the employee gains experience, the receiving organization gets expertise.

Primarily British usage; Americans more often say temporary assignment or loaned out.
