seat swap
Trading sitting spots
A seat swap is an exchange of seats between two people, typically on an airplane, train, or at an event.
The term often carries slightly negative connotations, as seat swaps frequently involve one passenger asking another to trade a better seat for a worse one: She asked if I'd do a seat swap so she could sit with her kids, but I'd paid extra for the aisle.
