scourings
Cleaned-away dirt remnants
Scourings are the residue removed by vigorous cleaning or scrubbing—the dirt, grime, or waste material scraped away.
The word extends to anything collected or left over from a thorough search or cleansing process: the scourings of the kitchen sink, the scourings of society.
In the latter sense, it disparages people considered worthless or undesirable.
