schoolmastering
Educating young pupils
Schoolmastering is the work or profession of being a schoolmaster—teaching and managing students, especially in a traditional or old-fashioned style.
The term often carries connotations of strict discipline and formal instruction: He spent forty years schoolmastering in rural England.
It can also describe a manner of speaking or behaving that is pedantic or condescending: His schoolmastering tone irritated his colleagues.
