Crew racing competitions

Rowing events are competitive races in which athletes propel boats using oars.

The term typically refers to Olympic and collegiate competitions, which include various boat classes distinguished by crew size and whether a coxswain steers: singles, doubles, eights.

Events may be sculling (two oars per rower) or sweep rowing (one oar each).
