stroke rate
Strokes per minute
Stroke rate is the number of strokes per minute in rowing, swimming, or similar repetitive movements.
In rowing, it measures how many times the oars complete a full cycle: The cox called for a higher stroke rate in the final sprint.
Coaches monitor stroke rate to balance power and efficiency—too high sacrifices force per stroke, too low loses momentum.
