Roughcast is a coarse plaster finish for exterior walls, made by mixing lime or cement with gravel or pebbles and throwing it against the surface.
The verb means to coat with this material or, more figuratively, to shape something in rough preliminary form: The sculptor roughcasted the figure before refining details.
