rolling average
Smoothed trend over time
A rolling average is a calculation that continuously updates by adding new data points while dropping the oldest ones, smoothing out short-term fluctuations to reveal underlying trends.
A 30-day rolling average of stock prices, for instance, recalculates daily by including the newest day and excluding the 31st day back.
Also called moving average.
The seven-day rolling average showed cases were declining.
