right mind
Rational mental state
Right mind refers to a state of mental clarity and sound judgment.
It appears almost exclusively in negative or questioning contexts: No one in their right mind would accept that offer, Are you in your right mind?
The phrase implies that a sane, rational person would think or act differently.
Someone not in their right mind may be temporarily impaired, emotionally overwhelmed, or simply making a bewildering choice.
