reversers

Things that backtrack

Reversers are devices or mechanisms that change direction or undo an action.

In aviation, thrust reversers redirect jet engine exhaust forward to slow an aircraft after landing.

In machinery, reversers shift gears or components to produce backward motion.

The term also applies to people who reverse decisions or positions: The policy reversers on the committee blocked the initiative.
