reverse-commute
Against the traffic
Reverse-commute describes traveling in the opposite direction of typical rush-hour traffic—living in the city and working in the suburbs, rather than the conventional pattern.
The term emerged as jobs dispersed to suburban office parks while some workers chose urban living: She reverse-commutes from Brooklyn to a tech campus in New Jersey.
The appeal is often lighter traffic going against the flow.
