restitch

Mend torn seams

To restitch is to stitch again—repairing a seam that has come undone, replacing sutures in a wound, or reworking needlework that didn't turn out right: The surgeon had to restitch the incision after it reopened.

The word applies to any context where stitching can be redone, from tailoring to surgery to embroidery.
