resettlement programs
Refugee placement efforts
Resettlement programs are organized efforts to relocate people from one place to another, typically run by governments or international agencies.
Most often the term refers to refugee resettlement—moving displaced people from temporary asylum to permanent homes in a third country: The family arrived through a UN resettlement program.
Historically, resettlement programs have also relocated populations for urban renewal, dam construction, or political purposes, sometimes forcibly.
