release window
Scheduled availability span
A release window is the period during which a film, game, or other media product is available exclusively through a particular channel before moving to the next.
Movies typically pass through theatrical, digital rental, streaming, and broadcast windows in sequence.
Studios carefully time these windows to maximize revenue at each stage: The theatrical release window has shrunk from six months to 45 days.
The term also applies to the timeframe when a product is scheduled to launch: The game's release window is Q4 2024.
