regional holiday
Area-specific day off
A regional holiday is a day of celebration or observance recognized in a specific area rather than nationwide.
Some regions mark local saints' days, harvest festivals, or historical events unique to their area: Mardi Gras is a regional holiday in Louisiana.
Businesses and schools may close, though the day carries no significance elsewhere in the country.
