reeled

Wobbled from shock

Reeled is the past tense of reel, which has two main threads.

To reel is to wind onto a spool: She reeled in the fishing line.

But reel also means to stagger or lose balance, as if dizzy: He reeled from the blow.

The figurative extension captures mental disorientation: She reeled from the news of his death.

My mind is still reeling.
