red grouper

Warm-water bottom-dweller

Red grouper is a species of fish found in the western Atlantic, from Massachusetts to Brazil, prized in commercial and recreational fishing.

The fish has reddish-brown coloring and firm white flesh popular in restaurants: We ordered the red grouper, blackened with Cajun spices.

Like other groupers, it's a bottom-dwelling predator that can live for decades.
