recommittal
Return to committee
Recommittal is the act of sending something back to a committee for further consideration.
In legislative contexts, a bill undergoes recommittal when lawmakers want additional review or revision before a final vote: The motion for recommittal passed, delaying the bill indefinitely.
The term also applies to returning a person to custody or confinement.
