reburials
Moving the dead
Reburials are second burials—the act of disinterring remains and burying them again elsewhere.
The practice occurs when bodies are moved to family plots, when graves are relocated for construction, or when indigenous remains are repatriated from museums to ancestral lands: The tribe held a ceremony for the reburials of their ancestors.
