reborrowed
Took another loan
Reborrowed describes a word that has traveled between languages more than once.
English borrowed *warranty* from Norman French, which had earlier borrowed it from Germanic.
When English later borrowed the French form *guarantee*, it reborrowed a word that had originated in its own ancestor language.
Many English words have been reborrowed from Latin, French, or other languages that had previously taken them from Old English or Germanic sources.
