reacclimatization

Getting used again

Reacclimatization is the process of readjusting to conditions you were once accustomed to, after time away.

Someone returning to high altitude after years at sea level undergoes reacclimatization: The mountaineer needed two weeks of reacclimatization before attempting the summit again.

The word implies a return rather than a first adjustment.
