raw stock
Film before processing
Raw stock is unexposed, unprocessed film or photographic material—blank media ready to receive images.
In filmmaking, cinematographers select raw stock based on its grain, sensitivity, and color characteristics: We shot on 35mm raw stock for that vintage look.
The term extends to any base material awaiting processing or manufacture.
