rain checks
Later redemption slips
A rain check is a voucher allowing a customer to purchase an item later at a sale price when it's currently out of stock, or a ticket stub entitling the holder to attend a future event if the current one is rained out.
The figurative sense dominates casual speech: to take a rain check is to decline an invitation while implying you'd like to accept another time.
