rail vodka
Bottom shelf liquor
Rail vodka is the cheapest vodka a bar stocks, kept within easy reach on the bartender's rail or speed rack rather than displayed on back shelves with premium bottles.
When someone orders vodka without specifying a brand, they get the rail: Just give me a vodka soda—rail is fine.
Also called well vodka.
