public viewings
Events for all
Public viewings are organized occasions when people can see something on display—typically a body before burial or cremation.
Funeral homes hold public viewings so mourners can pay respects: The public viewing is scheduled for Thursday evening.
The term also applies to scheduled times when property, artwork, or other items are open for inspection: The estate sale begins Saturday, with public viewings Friday afternoon.
