civic leader
Town's guiding voice
A civic leader is someone who takes an active role in community affairs and local governance.
The term applies to elected officials, nonprofit directors, business owners, or ordinary citizens who organize around public issues.
Unlike political leaders, civic leaders often work outside formal government: Several civic leaders spoke against the rezoning proposal.
