prohibition agents
Dry law enforcers
Prohibition agents were federal law enforcement officers who enforced the Eighteenth Amendment and Volstead Act during American Prohibition (1920–1933).
They raided speakeasies, seized illegal alcohol, and arrested bootleggers.
The agents were notoriously underpaid, which made many susceptible to bribes from organized crime: The prohibition agents busted the still in the woods behind the farmhouse.
