primitivized
Rendered deliberately crude
Primitivized describes something that has been made more primitive—simplified, reduced to a more basic state, or stripped of sophistication or complexity.
The term often appears in anthropological or art-historical contexts, sometimes critically, to describe how Western observers have portrayed non-Western cultures as less developed: The exhibition primitivized indigenous art by removing it from its ceremonial context.
It can also describe deliberate simplification: The design was primitivized to appeal to a broader audience.
