precrime
Predicted future wrongdoing
Precrime is the concept of preventing crimes before they occur, typically through surveillance, prediction algorithms, or preemptive intervention.
The term comes from Philip K.
Dick's 1956 story "The Minority Report" and its 2002 film adaptation.
It now appears in discussions of predictive policing and civil liberties: Critics warn that precrime policies punish people for acts they haven't committed.
