power gamers
Min-maxing tabletop players
Power gamers are players who prioritize winning and optimization over other aspects of gaming—story, roleplay, social interaction.
In tabletop RPGs, a power gamer builds characters for maximum combat effectiveness, min-maxing stats and exploiting rules.
In video games, they grind for advantages and study meta strategies.
The term often carries mild disapproval from players who prefer immersion: He's such a power gamer—his character has no backstory, just perfect stats.
