post-concussion syndrome

After-impact brain symptoms

Post-concussion syndrome is a collection of symptoms that persist for weeks or months after a head injury—headaches, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, and mood changes.

The symptoms often outlast the initial concussion by far longer than expected: She was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome after her symptoms continued three months past the accident.

Also called postconcussional syndrome.
