political figure
Government power player
A political figure is a person who holds public office, wields governmental power, or exerts significant influence on political affairs.
The term encompasses elected officials, appointed administrators, party leaders, and prominent activists.
Unlike politician, which can carry negative connotations, political figure is neutral—used in journalism and formal contexts to describe anyone whose actions shape public policy or political discourse.
